You must understand this: In the last days there will be violent periods of time. People will be selfish and love money. They will brag, be arrogant, and use abusive language. They will curse their parents, show no gratitude, have no respect for what is holy, and lack normal affection for their families. They will refuse to make peace with anyone. They will be slanderous, lack self-control, be brutal, and have no love for what is good. They will be traitors. They will be reckless and conceited. They will love pleasure rather than God. They will appear to have a godly life, but they will not let its power change them. Stay away from such people. (2Ti 3:1-5 GW)
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (2Ti 3:1-5 KJV)
The issue I intend raising with you here is what the Bible says we must understand. The King James Bible says “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.” It is something we must know. Perilous time shall come. And a king will reign unnoticed, even among Christians, church leaders and founders of local churches. That king will find expression in the lives of as many people as possible. So we must know it. The king is SELF.
How do I know? What do I mean? Bible says people will be selfish. What is that? Many believers will become self-centred and self-ruled. It will be difficult to know this if care is not taken. You may think you are saving some money or trying to be wise and prudent; yet selfishness is the one that has taken over you. Many will become selfish – thinking about themselves and themselves alone.
Bible also says people will be covetous. What does it mean to be covetous? To want everything for yourself. To want what belong to another person for yourself. To be covetous is to be greedy, having eyes that want what you can’t afford and that belong to someone else. Your self will become your drive. We all must be careful.
Bible further added that people will become boasters. What does that mean? People will always talk about themselves. If anyone handles microphone to preach and care is not taken; he will talk about himself or herself – his/her achievement, opinions, ideas, trips, position, bank account- from the beginning to the end, without preaching Christ. Such fellow might make reference to Jesus but it would be obvious he or she has come to promote himself or herself. We all must watch out and be very careful so that this end-time god and king does not have dominion over us also.
People will also become proud. To be proud is to think of oneself more than one ought to think. It is to exalt self and put oneself above others. Meekness is lowliness of mind, unfortunately meekness will become rare in the end time. Many people will instead become unteachable, haughty and arrogant. Pride – a key manifestation of the end time god will prevail the hearts and lives of many people. I sincerely feel like praying for myself at this point. Why don’t you also bow your heart with me and talk to God. The end time is NOW!
