Year 2020: Where Will You Be?

I am so glad about year 2020. It is a year to tap into for a great harvest on all sides. It is a year we will do great exploits. But as great as the year promises, there are many unpleasant things that will also happen. There will be floods, fires, storms, earthquakes. That is not praying for evil or being negative, they are things that will happen.

I was meditating on the first day of January 2020 when God gave me the privilege of reading a Bible Summary on Genesis 6. The summary concludes with the fact that the same water that destroyed the people of Noah’s day was the same water that lifted the Ark in which Noah and his family found salvation. In fact the Bible says it was God himself who shut them in behind the door of the Ark (Genesis 7:16).

Here is the message for the year: we all have a choice to determine which side of the water we want to be this season. We can decide to be below the water by living as recklessly in sin as we want to or choose to walk with God in love and have him shut us in the Ark of His Presence and Salvation like He did for Noah and his household.

Two things are very important this year to stay above the floods of life this year. One, we must receive Grace from the Lord (Genesis 6:8). By strength shall no man prevail. Many mighty people will fail and utterly fall because they have left God behind in their achievements. The storms and floods are not what they will be able to withstand or explain with Science or their commonsense. The wisdom for living in the year 2020 calls for running under the coverage of the Grace of God. It takes seeking and receiving the gracious provisions and guidance of the Father, the Maker of the Heavens and the Earth.

Two, because of the great things God wants to do this year, it will require us to come out of sleepiness and comfort, and spend more time in the place of prayer. Busyness will not do it this year. It will require the help from the Lord. And it takes spending time in God’s Presence to harness the things God has prepared for those who love Him this season. Prayer, prayer and prayer; with a commitment to do all that God says to us. We will need to very sensitive to God, and that is what prayer activates in us when we consistently do it.

Prayer is vital in this season for two reasons: one, it will grant us access to the Grace of God (Hebrews 4:16). As we go by the Blood of Jesus, we will receive fresh access to God and His Grace (1 Corinthians 15:10). And that Grace will set us apart from perishing below the waters like that same Grace spared Noah and His household. Two, in addition to granting us divine coverage from the evil days ahead, the Grace of God will release heavy inheritance and capacity to us as we wait upon the Lord. The things that were once difficult for us to do will become an easy ride. It will blow our minds. God has said it and He cannot lie. It will be a limitation-breaking season. But not without receiving Grace in prayer in His Presence. So friend, the ball is in your court, play it well. Happy Year 2020. Keep the SMILE coming!
