What I was Before I met the Lord Jesus Christ
I was born into the Christian home of The Odeyemis in the year 1968. Because the thing I was most familiar with from my childhood was the church, I simply loved doing the things of God. From my childhood age, I liked writing, composing and singing song. I love going to church and praying. Though I was deeply involved in the things of God, I still felt some holes unfilled in my heart. Doing things for God did not shield me from anger and malice, even though anytime I found myself in the mess, I would feel unhappy yet I didn’t know the way out.
How I met the Lord Jesus Christ
That continued until my teenage years when I left my parents for school and salvation became real to me. It was after a fellowship meeting in my school, the Lord spoke to me and gave me just one word from the book of Proverbs 14:12 and Proverbs 16:25 respectively, which say “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the way of death”. I began to consider the ways of death I have been following that could lead me to hell . I begged Jesus to please turn my life around, since I already knew how to pray to God before that time. He did forgive me and saved my soul, and also gave me His Holy Spirit.
The Change that Happened to Me
What I discovered after that experience was that the Holy spirit started His work in my life. Even though people still made me angry because of our differences, it became difficult for me to keep malice any more. The Spirit of forgiveness entered into my life. When people offends me, I easily found a place in my heart to forgive. Even when I am reminded of what people have done against me, the Spirit of the Lord makes me pray for such people and I am happy.
A Gentle Call to the Unsaved.
It doesn’t matter how big or small your sin may be, the blood of Jesus can wash them away, and make you whole, completely clean. Being born to a Christian family does not automatically give salvation, there must be a personal encounter with the Lord. It does not matter how minute the sin in your life may be, it is always a burden too much to bear, and it is a sure gateway to hell. Bible says that all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God (Romans 3:23). It also says “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23).
Christian parents should not assume that children born into their family are automatically saved. They should Preach the word of God to their children and show them good examples by their own lives. Friends, if you have not accepted Jesus, I gladly invite you today to give Him your heart. You will be glad you did! I am glad I did!
