Forty Days of Ascent

Welcome to 40 Days of Ascent. I invite you to join me and a few friends to pursue God and ascend higher in your walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. Last year, we had 40 Days of Return, which was God’s call to every one of us to return to Him in repentance, depart from our sinful ways and follow him. In this season, I believe God has a clear message and a new experience for us. The Lord is calling us to come up and taste something higher than we have ever known. I don’t know how strong or weak your relationship with God is, however, I believe God is calling every one of us to something higher and greater, He is calling us to a spiritual height that is higher than we have ever experienced. With God, there is something more!

A Call to Ascend with God

In these forty days, we have a call to ascend the hill of the Lord (Psalm 24:3), climb up the mount of deeper and higher spiritual walk with the Lord (Matt 5:1), a call to divine exaltation (Luke 14:10, Prov 25:6-7), an invite to an upward calling of God (Phill 3:14), a call to mount up with wings as eagles (Isaiah 40:31), do greater exploits for the Lord (1Cor 15:58, Dan 11:32, Prov 4:18), and walk in everlasting victory and triumph over the enemy (Revelation 11:12, Eph 2:6, Col 3:1-2).

Our Anchor scripture for this 40-Day journey is taken from Psalm 24:3-4, which reads: … Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully.

Moving from Realm to Realm

The twenty-fourth psalm (Psalm 24) tells us about two realms – the earth (Psalm 24:1-2) and the Hill of the Lord (Psalm 24:3). There is a quick switch in focus from the earth in verses 1 and 2 to the hill of the Lord in verse 3 of that precious psalm. Interestingly the two realms belong to the Lord. He gave the earth to man to dominate and be in charge (Genesis 1:26-28, Psalm 115:16, Luke 19:13). As if that were not enough, He gave man the privilege to also have access to the second and higher realm, His own very hill.

Something More

Every person born of a woman and living has access to the earth, but not everyone on earth has access to the hill of the Lord. Access to the Lord’s hill comes at a higher cost and requirements, which is worth every bit of the price. In the next few days, we will examine under God these two realms and how to harness God’s divine mandate and provisions for the new heights He is calling us into.
