The LORD is continually doing something new in your life—do you recognize it? I understand that these words may feel distant from your current experience, but dare to take God at His word.
You have a Role to Play
Consider the account of Peter in Luke 5. Jesus needed Peter to humble himself, cooperate, and collaborate with Him to witness a miracle—something new, something history-making, something impossible. But for that to happen, Peter had to obey immediately. There was no time to consult his mentor in the fishing business. His destiny was right there before him, in the presence of the Lord. Glory!
Luke 5:1-5 (KJV): And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
Why You should never Give Up
Despite a long, fruitless night of labor, Peter chose to launch into the deep at the Lord’s word—and everything changed.
Perhaps you have labored tirelessly for the salvation of your loved ones without seeing the results you long for. Maybe you’ve poured yourself into your ministry, job, career, marriage, health, relationships, finances, or academics, only to come up empty. You might have even been married for years without having kids of your own yet.
No matter how your situation appears, do not give up—because it will soon pass. Stand firm in faith, believing that the God who began a good work in you through our Lord Jesus Christ is faithful to perfect all that concerns you.
Amid all these life experiences, take time for self-reflection. Ask yourself: What am I doing wrong? What could I do better? Sometimes, a shift in approach is necessary—not because the initial method was entirely wrong, but because there is a more effective strategy that will lead you into the new season you long to see.
Lessons from Peter’s Encounter in Luke 5
Here are four key lessons to pick from the experience of Peter for your life and situation:
1. Let Jesus into Your Boat
Jesus is standing at the door of your heart, waiting for you to open it and invite Him into your situation. Your life may feel empty, fruitless, and even shameful—but Jesus is not ashamed to identify with you, even in the crowd. He desires your emptiness and brokenness so He can do what only God can do. Will you surrender those areas of shame to Him today?
2. Minister to Others
Many times, we believe life must be perfect before we can serve in God’s kingdom. But consider Elisha—his very tomb brought a dead man back to life (2 Kings 13:21). Even in physical death, Elisha’s body still carried God’s power. This shows that it’s not about our weaknesses or limitations, but about the living God who works through us. Don’t wait for perfection—serve Him now!
3. Wait for Divine Instruction
At this point, Peter had likely given up hope of catching any fish. Yet, after Jesus had finished using Peter’s boat for His purpose, He gave Peter a specific instruction to meet his personal need. This is a reminder that God is more willing to guide us than we often realize. If the Lord is truly your Shepherd, He will lead you in the right path—even through dark valleys that seem unexplainable. Trust Him. Before making any move—whether launching, relocating, continuing, or changing course—seek God’s guidance.
4. Obey His Word to You
“Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless, at thy word I will let down the net.” — Luke 5:4-5 (KJV)
Peter had labored all night without success, but he chose to let go of his past failure and trust Jesus’ word. Many believers remain stuck in old patterns because they hold on too tightly to past disappointments. But today, I see you breaking free from every cycle of struggle in Jesus’ name! Sometimes, the faith you need to birth something new is built when you surrender your empty boat for the kingdom’s purpose. Like Peter, may you boldly say, “I will.”
I am delighted to announce that your new season is here! Keep meditating on God’s Word for clear direction on your next steps. God is too faithful to fail—keep believing! Shalom!
Prayer
Thank You, Lord, for my life and all that I have been through. Today, I surrender myself to You for the sake of Your kingdom. I release my emptiness and brokenness to embrace Your fullness. Lord, come and do something new in my ministry, career, job, business, education, family, health, marriage, relationships, and every area of my life.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen!
