As the year comes to an end, I believe strongly that one of the several things God is set to do is to usher many into a season of reward. In Matthew 25: 21 and Job 34:11, the scriptures make us understand that God rewards good and faithful children. Without doubt, I know that God will surely reward many who remain faithful to Him even in these days we are in where it seems easier to compromise. However, a burden of prayer was laid on my heart concerning 3 categories of persons God is set to reward in this season.
Double Honor for Your Shame
Those who have borne reproach for so long for His sake. In 2 Samuel 10:4-5, we are told that Hanun took David’s servants who were sent on a mission, shaved off half of their beards and cut off their garments in the middle, at their buttocks, and sent them away. The men were greatly ashamed and had to wait at Jericho. There are many people who have had to bear reproach because of their committed service to God. There are people out there on mission and work fields carrying different burdens because they chose to heed God’s call without looking back. They serve God daily and faithfully without even expecting any reward; they are moved by their love for God. God is set to reward them in a way never imagined. There are those who have been alienated, cut off from even their families (Psalms 69:7-10) because of their commitment to God. They shall surely be rewarded this season
Your Good Deeds are Remembered!
Those who seem to have been forgotten. There are people like Mordecai (Esther 6) who are overdue for honor. People who despite opportunities to compromise, chose to remain faithful to God silently doing their work. There are many who have cried out to God ‘How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? Psalms 13:1. God is set to attend to them this season. He will put a new song in their mouth. Even those who are long overdue for promotions, marriage, those who have been trusting God for the fruit of the womb, those who have carried an affliction for so long. This season, they shall be remembered and rewarded.
God is Blessing Your Efforts
Then there are those who have labored for so long and ‘caught nothing’. People who despite all their efforts and labor seem to remain empty-handed. Some have given up on life, contemplating suicide because of the emptiness of their barns. God is set to reward them; their sacks shall be filled to the brim and overflowing, and their barns shall receive a great harvest. You might have waited for so long, but the wait is over. He will surely do a new thing.
“You’ve got times and seasons in your hands, you called for light out of darkness. You don’t need a man to be the God you are, but you have chosen to call me your own. You are God from beginning to the end, There’s no place for argument. You are God all by yourself”
Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them (Psalm 126:5-6).
