For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. (Romans 4:3)
Abraham, the father of faith gained the righteousness of God (by faith). It is the Grace of the Lord Jesus that brings righteousness to us. Grace is a Gift of God to mankind and it is only available in Christ Jesus. This happened by faith because the best of our righteousness is likened to a filthy rag before God, (Isaiah 64:6). The testimony of the scriptures concerning men who are not in Christ is that none of them is righteous…no not one!
As it is written in Romans 3:10, there is none righteous, no, not one (It is Christ that makes us righteous). But when we come through Jesus, we become the righteousness of God through Christ, which is a Gift of God because no one can earn the righteousness of God through works; it is a gift of God which is solely by Grace.
The Bible says, But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6). No one can please God without faith. What faith does is that it becomes the password to access Grace, which enables us to please God and have peace with God (Rom 5:1-2). It is Faith that launches believers into Grace. Abraham was saved in his time as we are saved today. The same Grace that saved us today is also the same Grace that saved Abraham.
What has obedience got to do with it?
So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him (Genesis 12:4). Abraham obeyed God (living Faith at work) and he accessed the Grace of God which was reckoned until him as righteousness. Abraham believed God, that was why he left (totally), his country, his kindred and his father’s house. He did not obey some of the instructions but all the instructions.
Today for us to access the Grace of God through faith, let us consider the type of faith we have, is your own faith the type that obeys all of God’s instructions or the one that will obey some instructions??? Think about that and ask God for Grace to obey Him always. He is always willing to help us.
