The instruction for today is to look forward. There are a lot of distractions going on in the world, seeking to get your attention. Like a Youtube advert that turns on right in the midst of a course. You must be quick to skip the advert to not get carried away with the distraction. Driver educators instruct new drivers to look ahead, not focus on the road makings rather look where they want their car to go and they will seamlessly get there. You are encouraged to look beyond today, this phase of your life too will pass away like many other phases you have been through. Scriptures say, Looking away from all that will distract to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith giving the first incentive for our belief and is also its Finisher bringing it to maturity and perfection. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God Hebrews 12:2.

Looking Away From Distractions

The eyes have been strategically positioned to be right on the upper front of your phase to keep your focus ahead. Extra effort is required to look behind. According to your make, your default view is ahead of you. Nevertheless, a person can choose to look elsewhere. Jesus is the beginning and the end, if you have started the journey of your life with Jesus in your boat, it is important that you keep your gaze on Him. Every person has unique distractions through which they can be strayed. Some of it is sports, fashion, shopping, new deals, clearance, movies, social media, chatting, browsing, and cooking; all these things in themselves are good when done moderately. It becomes a problem when they control you and lead you away from looking unto Jesus in the word or in prayers. The way to deal with distractions is to look away from them. Get your eyes off the path you don’t intend to go. If you will ascend like Jesus was taken into heaven, we must emulate His life. He focused on His assignment and nothing else, what is your assignment? If you are not doing your assignment, then you are doing that of somebody else.

Your Motivation

There is not so much incentive in the world to keep your eyes on the Lord. 1 John 2:16 says that all that is in the world are craving for sensual gratification, nothing spiritual. Everything has been set to satisfy the sinful nature of man. and selfish desires of the mind and assurance in your own resources.  The interesting thing is that the world is passing away and disappearing, along with distractions, forbidden cravings, and passionate desires. The world has an expiration, everything in it is changing. Nothing is constant, you can not afford to fix your heart on all these things with no eternal value. The key to abiding forever with Jesus is to commit yourself to the will of God and carry out His purposes in your life. Believers draw motivation by looking unto Jesus, I encourage you to spend some time studying the gospels according to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. God is set to lift you up.

Make a Covenant with your Eyes

There are so many things that can distract a man from his assignment. This happens when the eyes begin to wander on the things along the path. The eyes are the door of the heart and the moment the eyes are fixed the heart is fixed and your life is also. When the eyes start to wander, the heart follows suit. This brings about a shift in the thought process, derailing a person from his focus point. Choose what your eyes will see and will not see. Like Job said he made a covenant with his eyes not to look on the breast of a maid Job 31:1. Let your eyes look straight ahead, stop looking back. Where your eyes are fixed is where your feet go and likewise your life. Put your eyes in check, and under control. Guide and purge when found straying away from the goal. Let your eyes look forward; not backward or sideways, or shortcuts. Where is your focus? Today, yesterday, or tomorrow. Discipline is required to keep your eyes on the path. Look straight ahead with honest confidence and don’t hang your head in shame. God will come through for you. Shalom!

Confession

Father, I choose to be steadfast in You. I will not let whatever somebody does or doesn’t do dictate my responses and reactions in life. I get my life out of distraction in Jesus’ name. I hold my head up and my eyes are fixed on the right things and on the path to ascend. From now on, I move forward only in Jesus’ name.
