And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. (John 2:1-10)
Jesus performed a significant miracle at the wedding in Canaan. He turned water to wine. Having Jesus on your side is an advantage that will rescue you from impending embarrassment. If Jesus had not been at the wedding, what would have happened? A life without Jesus will experience all manner of shortages and most importantly, lack of peace. You should be willing to pay the price to get Jesus on your side. There are several lessons we can learn from the miracle Jesus did at the wedding.
Faith in God is dependent on the word of God. If you must act in faith, you must have a word of God you are standing on. It would have been foolish and presumptuous to fill the waterpots with water and serve the chairman of the occasion same without the word of God. Faith actions that command results are borne out of God’s word.
Obedience to God’s word opens the flow of the supernatural. Jesus Christ gave two instructions; first to fill the waterpots with water and secondly to serve the chairman of the occasion. He didn’t give the second instructions until they had carried out the first instruction. Atimes you think you are waiting for God to move in your situation when indeed he is waiting for you to carry out the last instruction he gave you. Your output in life is determined by your degree of obedience. Until Peter agreed to cast the net into the sea, He didn’t have a net-breaking harvest (Luke 5).
Jesus knows what you need and what you have. They needed wine but they had water and waterpots, the power of God came on the scene and blessed what they had. For every lack in your life, there is something you have that the power of God can overshadow and bring blessings upon. The power of God is released through carrying out God’s instructions. The power of God has a multiplier effect. You only need to ask the Lord to open your eyes to see the provisions he has made available for every lack in your life.
Let your response in difficult situations be borne out of your past experiences in God and testimonies of the past. The mother of Jesus didn’t just say “whatsoever he tells you to do, do it” She must have experienced miraculous workings of Jesus that puts a manifestation tag on the words of Jesus. Every believer can point to various dimensions of the miraculous moves of God in his life and you should use this testimonies of the past as a pedestal for touching the garment of Jesus for another encounter. After all, Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.
