Welcome to Day 18 of the 40Days of Return. Today, I want to share on forgiveness as we press on to all that God has for us in this season. Forgiveness is what you do for yourself, but the condition to receive forgiveness is to give it to others.
Hurts will Happen
The truth is you need forgiveness to be at peace with yourself, the people in your life, and God. Whether you like it or not you offend people, and you need their forgiveness and vice versa. Those you love the most will do things that will hurt you because they are humans and are prone to err.
You Have the Power to Forgive
You have the power to forgive your offenders as well as yourself, you also have a choice to let them go free as though they have done no wrong. You have the ability to forgive others even when they have not asked for it, this is peace and health for your body.
It’s your Choice
It is to your glory and honor to overlook an offense. Experience the joy that comes from overlooking an offense, it’s enormous. Give forgiveness freely to all. Decide today that nothing anyone does or say will make you stop loving them. Be quick to release people from your heart.
The Law of Sowing and Reaping
Jesus says, if you forgive people their trespasses, their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment, your heavenly Father will also forgive you (Matt. 6:14). Expect to receive multiple folds of whatever you give to others including forgiveness. If you are easily angered by the slightest thing, then get ready for more occasions that will get you angry. God’s idea is for you to become like Him in forgiving others.
Jesus is Ever Ready to Help you
How do you forgive your enemies, those working every day to pull you down to your face? How do you forgive those who want to get you out of your job, destroy your godly reputation and blackmail you? It’s really humanly difficult, but Jesus says forgive your offenders. He won’t ask you to do the impossible, God is ever ready and able to help you give up resentment if you desire it. Ask God for help and direction today in specific ways to let go of your offenders.
Things to do
Practically begin to pray for those who offend you, mention their names to God, ask a blessing on them in Jesus name. Find ways to do good to them. As you do this, a transformation takes place in your heart, which may open the door of revelation. Choose to let them go and you will never remain the same again.
Get your Breakthrough Today
Some problems in your life can be traced to unforgiveness, ranging from illnesses to spiritual attacks, and financial setbacks. The breakthrough you need today will come if you let the love of God flow through you towards your offenders.
Finally, the cost of unforgiveness is too great, it makes you an enemy of God. You lose fellowship with God and open the door to the enemy to torment you. If you are a child of God, then act like your Father who forgives all our trespasses.
Shalom!
