The Fear of the Lord

Ascension begins with the knowledge of the Holy One, and the wisdom demonstrated as a result of the fear of the Lord. Pharoah neither reverenced the word of the Lord nor His name and lost everything, he went down to the bottom of the sea. Nations, governments, peoples, and groups who refuse to fear the Lord may have experiences like king Pharoah. We are instructed to live in the fear of the Lord. Psalms 33:8 says, let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. If you want the eyes of the Lord on your life and everything else that pertains to you, walk in the fear of the Lord Psalms 33:18. The fear here is not dread it is love for who God is, and His love is prompting you to flee from evil because He hates wickedness.

What is the Fear of the Lord?

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, it means to shun evil, accept the word of the Lord, follow His precepts, and walk in obedience Job 28:28. The fear of the Lord is eternal, it will keep you ascending heights before God and all men. When the fear of God is present in a man or woman, there is increased awareness of God’s presence, purpose, and position in everything: and a willingness to follow through.

Fear of the Lord = Wisdom

No Fear of the Lord = Foolishness

Fear of the Lord = Flee from evil

And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul Deuteronomy 10:12.

How to Develop the Fear of the Lord?

To develop the fear of the Lod you need to soak yourself in His word; read, study, and meditate on scriptures. The Israelites feared the Lord and put their confidence in him and Moses, his servant, after witnessing the powerful hand of the Lord demonstrated against the Egyptians Exodus 14:31. There is countless proof that miracles are real from Genesis to revelation in the Bible and in your own life. Meditate on the goodness of God. To grow in the fear of the Lord, create time to study the wonders of God in the life people living in our days and in time past. Read books that cover testimonies of people’s encounters with Jesus, how they moved from who they were to where they are now, and expose yourself to interviews done with people of faith in Christ.

The Fear of the Lord can be Learned by Listening

To whom are you listening? Who are those speaking into your life? These are important people because you become what you hear. Turn your ears to the wisdom of God. If faith comes by hearing the word of God, then the fear of the Lord will come by hearing the word of the Lord as faith does not work alone. Faith works in love and the fear of the Lord is love. When the people heard the testimonies of the 10 spies, their hearts melted in fear and their courage failed them because of what they heard and also because of the caliber of the people who spoke the word.

Do not Take Advantage of People

Who are those people that are under your watch? Start to treat them well, and always remember that although you owe them no answer for how you treat them. You are responsible for them before God. Doing all things in the fear of the Lord.

Benefits of Living in the Fear of the Lord

  1. The fear of the Lord secures the attention of God because His eyes are on you.
  2. You Become the apples of His eyes.
  3. The angels of the Lord will encamp around you for security, ministry, and help Psalms 33:7. The angels of God stay in the presence of God, when you secure God’s attention, His angels will follow suit.
  4. No fear of bad news, because your heart is fully trusting in the Lord Psalms 112:7.

Confession

Father God, Let the fear of the Lord fill me right now, and teach me to reference You and Your word in every situation. To judge wisely, without partiality, injustice, or corruption before the Lord. Let the fear of the Lord spread among the nations of the earth, in the governance and Judiciary in Jesus’ name.
